The Awards Presentation Night

The Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards Night and Gala Black Tie Dinner was held on November 15, 2010 at Stamford Plaza Hotel in Auckland City. For the second year in succession, the Hotel put together an elegant setting, converting the lobby into an exquisite function area to accommodate more than 500 guests.
Governor General Sir Anand Satyanand, Lady Susan Satyanand, Prime Minister John Key, Leader of the Opposition Phil Goff, Mary Goff, Auckland Mayor Len Brown and Indian High Commissioner Retired Admiral Sureesh Mehta were Guests of Honour at the Ceremony.

Sir Anand described the Awards Ceremony as a 'Sparkling Product,' saying, "The work of the Indian Diaspora not only benefits New Zealand, but also New Zealand's relationship with India by providing a ready constituency for enhanced trade, tourism, scientific and educational links."
Mr Key paid tribute to Indian businesses, saying that they were significant contributors to the progress of the New Zealand economy.
"IBA has grown in size and is today a successful annual event, recognising and rewarding successes in business. I am always happy to attend the Awards Night and be with such a large gathering of business people," he said.
Mr Goff said, "IBA has the potential to bring businesses in New Zealand and India together."
Mr Brown agreed, saying, “Indian Newslink has structured an Awards Programme that has become an important part of the business community.”
Mr Mehta said Indian businesses should help in promoting ties with their counterparts in India, in the process of which IBA could play a significant role, a view shared by many other dignitaries at the event.
